This is quite interesting… Liquid Wood is a thermoplastic material made from byproducts of the wood pulp industry to replace plastic materials made from petroleum. As the reserves of petroleum products are finite and forecast to run out in as little as 30 years, the world is looking for alternatives for all forms of petroleum usage.

In a PR stunt intended to take advantage of the so-called “Carmageddon” 405 freeway closure this past weekend in Los Angeles, Jet Blue offered $4 flights across town from Burbank to Long Beach. Did you know that there’s an official interstate bicycle highway system? Sure, there are only two routes officially designated (out of that whole brilliant network in the map above), and nothing has happened since back in 1982, but, according to DOT secretary Ray LaHood, there’s new life for the U.S. Bicycle Route System.
